The Hunter Museum of American Art is an incredible space. The building itself, depicted in the picture above, is perched on an 80-foot limestone bluff above the Tennessee River. It offers exceptional views of the river and surrounding mountains, but this view is perhaps minimized by the incredible art that awaits inside. The Hunter Museum of American Art houses what is considered to be one of the best collections in the country, featuring works from the Colonial Period through present times. The exhibits inside feature a variety of artistic mediums, including paintings, works on paper, sculpture, photography, mixed media, furniture and contemporary studio glass.
