Visit the Chattaooga Farmers Markets

March 23, 2018

You can learn a lot about a city by visiting the same places that the locals shop and eat.  Though public markets often act as a community hub featuring specialty shops, eateries, local artisans, and regional food vendors, they've also grown increasingly popular as tourist attractions as well.  The local markets are wonderful places to experience some great Southern traditions like crafts, music, food and the farm grown produce that is central to Chattanooga's delicious cuisine. The Chattanooga Market has been named one of the top 10 public markets in the country, so it's definitely worth visiting during your time in Chattanooga.  Book your room at our Chattanooga Bed and Breakfast today, and discover the real Chattanooga at our delightful farmers markets.

Chattanooga Farmers Markets

There are several great farmers markets in Chattanooga, but there are two that stand out above the rest. The first of these farmers markets is the famous Chattanooga Market, which has been listed as one of the top 10 public markets in the nation.  It is undeniably the most popular market in the city, and is open every Sunday from April through November at the Tennessee First Pavilion.  This public market is the region's largest producer-only market, meaning that all 350+ of the vendors have to be directly involved in the production of food and goods.  Here, you'll find 50 regional farms that bring a beautiful variety of produce, meats and cheeses to the market. In total, these vendors represent over 5,000 acres of local farmland. The Chattanooga Market also houses over 130 artisans that share their unique crafts, arts, farm-fresh goods, and other locally made specialties.  Not only will you find the freshest and most delicious farm produce and artisan goods available in Chattanooga, but Chattanooga Farmers Markets and Fresh Breakfastvisitors to the market will also enjoy live entertainment and interesting weekly themes. Opening weekend will be April 28, 2018.

The second of the main Chattanooga markets is the Saturday Chattanooga River Market. This artists market, located at the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza, is the perfect place to find local arts, crafts and live music.  Other public farmers markets in Chattanooga include the night market at Cambridge Square on Friday Nights during the summer, and the Collegedale Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Visit one of these weekly public markets during your time in Chattanooga, and leave with a true feel for the local flavor of this hip and scenic city.
