About Our Chattanooga B&B

Just 10 minutes from Downtown Chattanooga, visitors can not only view 7 states from Lookout Mountain, which straddles the states of Georgia and Tennessee, they can spend a comfortable night atop the peak in this B&B. Chanticleer Inn, built in the 1930s, has the same mountain stone exterior it had when it first opened. The inn's 17 rooms and five cottages were completely renovated in 2002 by new innkeepers Kirby and Judy Wahl.

Chanticleer's country theme includes English antiques and hardwood floors. Guest rooms feature all the amenities plus little extras with some accommodations such as private patios, fireplaces or adjoining rooms. A full home-made breakfast is served every morning. Guests may relax by the living room fireplace, use the Inn's pool or take a stroll around the five acres of landscaped grounds.

The Inn is part of the historic community called Fairyland on Lookout Mountain. Hiking, golf, tennis, and a spa are nearby. Rock City Gardens (with 4,100 foot walking trail past rock formations, caves, and gardens), Point Park Civil War Monuments and Incline Railway are minutes away.

Constructed in the 1930s with local mountain stone, Chanticleer Inn looks the same on the outside today but is very different on the inside. The Chattanooga B&B's 17 rooms and surrounding 5 cottages were completely remodeled and renovated in 2002. Kirby and Judy Wahl, The Innkeepers, will greet you with a smile and serve you an excellent, full home cooked breakfast.

Recognized for its romance and appeal, the Inn caters especially to guests seeking relaxation, luxury, and convenience to all of Chattanooga's attractions. Located atop Lookout Mt. adjacent to Rock City Gardens, the Inn has its own pool and is nestled in a famous community that offers easy hiking, walking, tennis, golf, beautiful views, historical civil war sites and parks. Whether you are planning a family vacation, romantic getaway, wedding, business trip or are just driving through, we hope to see you at our B&B soon.

The owners of the Chanticleer Inn, Chris and Susan Maclellan, purchased and renovated the Inn in 2002. Operating the Inn is truly a family affair. Susan decorated all 17 rooms at the bed and breakfast and now oversees the grounds, often cooking breakfast for our guests. Chris grew up on Lookout Mountain and handles the Inn's marketing and business aspects. Susan's parents (see their photo on the Contact us page) are the Innkeepers and enjoy visiting other Inns or spending time with their four grandsons. Morgan, 18, updates the website. Owen, 17, does yard and maintenance work. Robert, 11, and Wilson, 7, both have potential. Despite the degree of family participation, our two Chocolate Labs are not allowed on property due to our no pets rule.
