Yard Sale Date: August 4-7, 2011
Place:  The Lookout Mountain Parkway and the U.S. 127 Corridor
From:  Gadsden, Alabama to Hudson, Michigan

**Note – The World’s Longest Yard Sale (also known as The 127 Sale) is a 4-day event.

**Please drive with caution and be alert of the others around you. The month of August is usually very warm in the deep South so pack plenty of water and don’t forget the sunscreen. We can’t wait to see you!!

Travel more than 675-miles of scenic beauty and see tons of yard sales. Get started on your journey by traveling the 93- mile Lookout Mountain Parkway route from Gadsden, Alabama to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the most “scenic rural America” in the United States. Alabama has more than 1,000 yard sale vendors alone! You will find everything from antiques, collectibles, furniture, dishwares, fresh garden produce, homemade jams and jellies, food vendors, live entertainment and so much more. Continue with the yard sale, following the U.S. 127 Corridor from Chattanooga, TN to Hudson, MI for another 575 miles of yard sale bargains.  When combined, the Lookout Mountain Parkway and the 127 Corridor have had as many as 5,000 vendors lined along the scenic yard sale route in past World's Longest Yard Sale on Lookout Mountain in Alabamayears and this year promises to be even bigger.

59th Ohio Regiment at Chickamauga Battlefield

Chickamauga SunsetChickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend a special Living History weekend at Chickamauga Battlefield on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, 2011.

Throughout the weekend, living history volunteers representing the 59th Ohio Infantry will conduct Infantry demonstrations at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center.  Living Historians will present talks about the life of the soldier throughout the weekend on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and on Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  They will also conduct rifle firing demonstrations at 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, and on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.. Visitors are encouraged to visit the camp throughout the weekend to learn what life was like on a daily basis for the Civil War soldier.

Organized at Ripley, Ohio in October 1861, the 59thOhio Infantry served with the Army of the Ohio/Army of the Cumberland during their service in the Civil War. The regiment participated in the 1862 Battles of Shiloh and Stones River and the 1863 Battle of Chickamauga where it sustained a twenty-seven percent casualty rate.  The regiment participated in the Army of the Cumberland’s charge up Missionary Ridge on November 25, 1863.  They also fought in the 1864 Atlanta campaign.
